Statement | NYFA’s Response to the Wrongful Deaths of Black People

We stand with those who are protesting the wrongful deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and others. We stand against systemic racism and white supremacy and the power structures that protect and support them, and we recognize the urgency for drastic change. We–NYFA–must do better. As an arts service organization, NYFA commits to reflect on our programs and resources to achieve equity for black artists and all artists of color, their communities, and audiences. The arts alone can’t solve deep-seeded issues, but they can help us to navigate paths forward based on greater understanding and empathy.
