Happy New Year! We’re excited to share the latest from Fiscally Sponsored artists, and invite you to the following events in Montreal and Brooklyn:
Events
On Tuesday, January 15, Salam: The First ****** Nobel Laureate, produced by Project Director Zakir Thaver, will be screened at the McGill Institute of Islamic Studies in Montreal. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by McGill University scholars on science and religion. Both the screening and panel discussion will be held at Leacock 26, 855 Sherbrooke Street West, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Learn more about the screening here.
On Thursday, January 31, Alison Cornyn is holding a special event for her exhibition, Incorrigibles: Bearing Witness to Incarcerated Women and Girls. Head to The Ceremonial Courtroom inside the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse for a night of discussion, storytelling, and an exploration on girls’ and womens’ justice in New York. The exhibition will be on view Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM at the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse’s Charles P. Sifton Gallery through February 15. Register for the public event here.

Congratulations to Katya Grokhovsky, project director of The Immigrant Artist Biennial, for being selected as a 2019 performing arts fellow in the Wythe Hotel Artist Residency Program! Grokhovsky held the first performance for her project, “Bad Acts,” at the Wythe Hotel on January 9. Her performance was mentioned in a recent Hyperallergic “Art Movements” column.
