It’s December, which means that there’s only a few weeks left to make the most out of 2018. Enjoy the season by taking in art and performances by Fiscally Sponsored artists in Pittsburgh and New York City.
Pianist Deanna Witkowski will perform songs from her album Raindrop: Improvisations on Chopin at The Hillman Center in Pittsburgh, PA as part of the performing arts center’s Black Box Series on Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 PM. Witkowski’s solo piano session will combine jazz, Chopin, and the music of Brazil. Purchase tickets to her performance here.
The Artist and Buddhist Contemplatives Project, led by Sara Overton, will co-present “Meredith Monk and Robert Thurman in Conversation” on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:30 PM at The Rubin Museum in New York City. The talk will address topics in interdisciplinary art, Buddhism, and environmental awareness. Purchase event tickets here.
Zakir Thaver’s feature-length documentary, Salam – The First ****** Nobel Laureate will be screened at the 15th Annual South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in New York City on Saturday, December 15 at 4:30 PM. SAIFF adds to the several festival screenings Salam has already had in the U.S. and abroad. The film focuses on the intellectually-vibrant life of Abdus Salam, the first Pakistani to win the Nobel Prize.
