EVENTS
On Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5, catch performances at four parks in Long Island City at the INSITU Site-Specific Dance Festival! There are four performance sequences each day in each park, all starting at 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. In total, the festival will feature an impressive 144 performances by 22 NYC-based national and international choreographers. Check out INSITU’s official website for the festival program, visitor information, and maps of each park.
Join CaribBEING at Brooklyn Museum’s Target First Saturdays this Saturday, August 4! Stop by CaribBEING House, a mobile art center that amplifies Caribbean voices through art and activations, to experience cultural production from across the diaspora. CaribBEING House will be stationed at Brooklyn Museum through August 26.
CHEERS!
We are happy to congratulate two of our Sponsored Artists on becoming 2018 Princess Grace Award winners: Raul Paz Pastrana (2018 Film Recipient) and Shamel Pitts (2018 Choreography Recipient)! The awards give artists in the early stages of their professional development financial assistance and encouragement to focus on artistic excellence.
Congratulations to Kathleen Foster on receiving “Honorable Mention” in the Short Documentary Category of the 2018 Newark Black Film Festival Paul Robeson Awards for her Fiscally Sponsored film PROFILED. The documentary knits the stories of mothers of black and Latin youth murdered by the NYPD into a powerful indictment of racial profiling and police brutality, and places them within a historical context of the roots of racism in the U.S.
Are you an artist or a new organization interested in expanding your fundraising capacity through NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship? We accept out-of-cycle reviews year-round. No-fee applications are accepted on a quarterly basis and our next deadline is September 30. Click here to learn more about the program and to apply.
