Join us on May 17 for a practical overview on video preservation and archiving, presented by video editor Paul Dougherty.
Join New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) on Thursday, May 17 for a presentation by video editor Paul Dougherty. Dougherty will provide a practical guide to video preservation and archiving for artists and independent filmmakers, with special emphasis on post-production elements. He’ll review basic practices that artists can use to protect their work and its value—even with a small budget or no budget at all.
Dougherty has been a video editor since the 1970’s, with four works in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. He has freelanced at over 40 video facilities, and is a recent graduate of the Library Science and Archiving program at Queens College. Since graduation, Dougherty has done video archiving for the ACLU and the International Rescue Committee.
