Register Now | Two-Day Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp Program for Visual Artists in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area
Free program to take place at American University Museum on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25.
New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), in partnership with American University Museum (AUM), is pleased to offer an opportunity for visual artists (painting, photography, sculpture and installation, ceramics, folk art and traditional, craft, printmaking, drawing and book arts, film, video and new media) to participate in the Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp. This two-day program, presented free of charge through the support of the Stephen & Palmina Pace Foundation, has been customized to fit the needs of AUM artist members as well as for artists in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
The Artist as Entrepreneur Program offers the fundamental principles of sustainability—and ultimately profitability—in the arts. This includes topics such as strategic planning, finance, and marketing. Additional material is drawn from NYFA’s popular textbook The Profitable Artist (Allworth Press, 2011). The structure is a blend of formal lectures, breakout groups, and one-on-one meetings. Participants work through a flexible and dynamic “action plan,” and other entrepreneurial tools which provide a blueprint for their practice or specific projects.
