Maia Palileo (Fellow in Painting ‘15)
Maia Palileo’s work is now on view at Ortega y Gasset Projects in the group exhibition On Knowing Unknowing: A Material Narrative among artists Nancy Azara, Yevgeny Fiks, and Sun You.

Jim Gaylord (Fellow in Painting ‘08)
Hometown presents Ouroboros is Broken, a two-person exhibition of new work by Jim Gaylord and sculptor Jerry Blackman.

Betty Shamieh (Fellow in Playwriting/Screenwriting ‘04, ‘16)
The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents Fit for a Queen, a timely new comedy based on a true story of one woman’s captivating rise to become the pharaoh of Egypt, written by Shamieh. Click here to purchase tickets.

Brenda Iijima (Fellow in Poetry ‘11)
Come hear Iijima and others at the Segue Reading Series at Zinc Bar. Each month will feature different writers twice a month on Saturdays. Happening now through January 2017.

John O’Connor (Fellow in Painting ‘08, Printmaking/Drawing/Artists’ Books ‘14)
John O’Connor is having his first solo exhibition Thin, Dark Crash (how I dread that blue jay) at Pierogi Gallery’s new LES location.

Glendalys Medina (Fellow in Interdisciplinary Work ‘12)
Spots, Dots, Pips and Tiles, an exhibition around the game of dominoes featuring Glendalys Medina’s work, is opening at Hunter East Harlem Gallery.

Dale Williams ( Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Artists’ Books ‘14)
Visit Dale’s studio during the Arts Gowanus Open Studios.

Leslie McCleave (Sponsored Project)
Come see How Sweet the Sound: The Blind Boys of Alabama, an official selection of the Margaret Mead Film Festival. Since meeting at a Talladega institute for the blind in the 1930s and creating a band, gospel greats The Blind Boys of Alabama have toured continuously, amassing five Grammy Awards and universal acclaim. Follow their remarkable story over ten years on the road and in the studio.

Svjetlana Bukvich (Fellow in Music/Sound ‘13)
Traces, Svjetlana Bukvich’s new score for electric violin Viper, electric harp, drum set & percussion, and electronics, will be presented in Carolyn Dorfman Dance at Bickford Theater, Morris Museum in New Jersey. Watch the short trailer here.

Sarah Oppenheimer (Fellow in Architecture/Environmental Structures ‘06, ‘10, ‘16)
S-281913, Sarah Oppenheimer’s newly commissioned project for Pérez Art Museum Miami, is now on view at PAMM in Miami. The work connects art, cognitive science, and philosophy, and interacts with the unique architecture of the museum space. Don’t miss out!

Visakh Menon (IAP Mentor ‘10)
SIGNAL / NOISE, a solo exhibition of drawings by Visakh Menon, is now on view at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Art Gallery in New Jersey.

Hans Tammen ( Fellow in Digital/Electronic Arts ‘09)
Tammen will be performing music from his album Choking Disklavier this weekend at Pianos Without Organs, a music festival dedicated to the presentation of new works in the North Carolina region.

Judith Bernstein (Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Artists’ Books ‘88)
This year at Frieze London, The Box LA will exhibit a selection of political work by Judith Bernstein and others. The exhibition will focus on each artist’s perspective of America’s involvement in war. Bernstein is a renowned feminist artist who has been producing work over the past fifty years.
