Parthenia
The viol quartet Parthenia brings early music into the present with its repertoire that animates ancient and fresh-commissioned contemporary works with a ravishing sound and a remarkable sense of ensemble. These “local early-music stars,” hailed by The New Yorker and music critics throughout the world, are “one of the brightest lights in New York’s early-music scene.” Together Beverly Auhas, Lawrence Lipnik, Rosamund Morely and Lisa Terry are Parthenia. They perform in concerts across America, and produce their own series in New York City, collaborating regularly with the world’s foremost early music specialists. PROFILED is a feature length documentary that knits the stories of mothers of Black and Latin unarmed youth murdered by the NYPD into a powerful indictment of racial profiling and police brutality. The narratives are placed within a historical context of the roots of racism in the U.S.
Kathleen Foster is a British-born, New York-based documentary filmmaker. Since the mid-1980’s, she has been making films for community organizations and producing independent documentaries that combine elements of history, current events, and individual stories and focus on grassroots struggles for change. Her films have been widely distributed and screened at such prestigious showcases as the Museum of Modern Art, the Asia Society, Queens Museum, Anthology Film Archives, and Brecht Forum. Foster’s film Afghan Women was also a widely seen project fiscally sponsored by NYFA. Joe Fusco
What: Finish Line: The Rise and Demise of Off-Track Betting World Premiere at Workers Unite! Film Festival, Q & A to follow with Director

Finish Line is the first documentary film of the untold story of Off-Track Betting (OTB). A fascinating story of vice, political corruption, New York, and horses. Most of all, Finish Line is a story of people: the people who worked at OTB, the people who played at OTB, and the people who killed OTB.
Fusco studied at Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts, graduating with a BFA in film production. In 2010, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Chloe, A to Z, starring Natasha Warner and Angel Dillemuth. The film premiered as an Official Selection of the New Filmmakers Showcase.
