Artists News: Go Out And Enjoy Some Art

After this freezing cold weekend we are expecting some pretty warm and sunny days. 

This is getting us excited to get out and experience what the art world has to give. Below we have listed some interesting events, exhibitions, readings and performances that will come up during the next days in New York and the rest of the world.

Heidi Neilson (Fellow in Interdisciplinary Work ‘15)
Her work is on show at the Setting Out exhibition at apexart. The topic of the show is the ethos and praxis of expeditions.

Larry Krone (Fellow in Crafts ’09, Interdisciplinary Work ’15)
Is featured in Queer Threads: Crafting Identity and Community, a group show about the LGBTQ community at the Maryland Institute College of Art. The works shown are combinations of fine art traditions and thread-based craft materials and processes, which intend to highlight the diversity of LGBTQ experiences.

Kate Gilmore (Fellow in Interdisciplinary Work ’12)
Her solo exhibition Love ‘em, Leave ‘em as well as other recent work will be on show at David Castillo Gallery until the end of March. The opening reception will be this Friday at 7:00 PM at the Gallery in Miami Beach.

Hans Tammen (Fellow in Digital/Electronic Arts ’09)
Will perform at the Out To See Festival in New York City together with the Third Eye Electric Band Residency. The festival will run through April.

Saul Becker (Fellow in Painting ’10)
His exhibition, An Unfamiliar Tide, will open on Friday at Zieher Smith & Horton Gallery.

Eric Corriel (Fellow in Digital/Electronic Arts ’09)
The exhibition Enter The Machine will be on show through the end of February at Garis & Hahn.

Sarah Oppenheimer (Fellow in Architecture/Environmental Structures ’06, ’10)
Experience how Sarah has transformed the space at Mudam Luxembourg to exhibit her latest work S-399390. The opening reception will be on Friday, February 19 at 6:00 PM.

Juana Valdes (Fellow in Sculpture ‘11)
As an MFA Fine Arts alumna from the School of Visual Arts Juana’s work is featured in elmuseo@SVA. This Saturday will be the last day that this amazing exhibition will be on view.

David Thomson (Fellow in Choreography ’13), Molly Lieber (Finalist in Choreography ’13), Neil Greenberg (Fellow in Choreography ’90,’96), RoseAnne Spradlin (Fellow in Choreography ’98, ’06, ’13) and Marina Rosenfeld (Fellow in Music Composition ’04)
Are participating in Maria Hassabi’s performance Plastic. During the live installation artists will dance through the MoMA.
