New Work by June Glasson Featured on Artspace

NYFA Curatorial is pleased to announce the addition of eight new works on paper by June Glasson (Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts, ‘11) offered for sale through NYFA’s partnership with Artspace.com.
About the new series:
“In much of my work, I use portraiture and found objects to explore gender and ideas about the ‘American West.’ Deploying so-called ‘western’ imagery–buffalo, weaponry, track nutz, etc.– my drawings, paintings, and installations often attempt to investigate dominant narratives about the region, narratives that often ignore its complicated and violent history.
These paintings were all created in 2015. They are based on staged photoshoots in which my models were simply told to be actively involved in their self-presentation and to behave in "unladylike” ways. It is my hope that these pieces ask interesting questions about how women should behave and be seen.“ – June Glasson
