Register for a 20-minute one-on-one appointment with a consultant to receive feedback about your website or an application you’re working on, and ask questions about building your artistic career.

Marco Antonini, Executive Director and Curator at NURTUREart

Antonini’s articles, essays, interviews, short stories and poetry have been published worldwide on magazines, journals, catalogs and other exhibition-related publications. His MA dissertation thesis “The Obsolete in Reverse: Robert Smithson and Science Fiction” was a finalist in the 2012 Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grants and was presented at the 2014 College Art Association conference in Chicago. His most recent publications include Golden Age: perspectives on abstract painting today (Co-edited with Christopher K. Ho), and Experimental Photography: a handbook of techniques, currently available via SHS / Vetro editions and distributed in the USA by Thames and Hudson).
Darren Ching, Co-owner, Klompching Gallery
Darren Ching is the co-owner of the Klompching Gallery in New York, specializing in the sale and exhibition of contemporary fine art photography, by emerging and mid-career artists. For more than a decade, his involvement in the photography industry includes, panel presentations, juroring of photography awards, and contributing to both online and print publications on the subject of photography. He has been a portfolio reviewer for numerous festivals, including Houston’s FotoFest, Review Santa Fe, and Fotografiska in Stockholm. In 2010, Mr. Ching was on the photography judging panel for the Society of Publication Designers annual competition. Formerly he was Creative Director of Photo District News, responsible for the visual design identity of the magazine 1999–2015, as well as a perennial judge for the influential PDN’s 30. Additionally, he is an Adjunct Faculty member at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and has in the past given critiques at SCAD, RISD and MICA. Klompching Gallery is a member of The Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD).
Erin Donnelly, Programs Manager, Smack Mellon
Erin Donnelly is Programs Manger at Smack Mellon working on the Artist Studio Program and Art Ready Education Program. Prior to joining Smack Mellon, she was Internships and Grants Administrator, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University. Since 2001 she worked for Lower Manhattan Cultural Council serving five years as Director, Artist Residencies and later as Special Projects Consultant. Curated exhibitions and public art projects have been held in New York City and beyond. Her specialization in artist services and professional development has led to her participation with peer organizations and lectures at universities. Publications include “Art in Odd Places: Sign” and “Site Matters”. She has taught in the Department of Photography & Imaging, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She is a mentor for the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation. She received a MA from Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Certificate in Museum Studies, and BA in Fine Arts, all from NYU. In 2000-2001, she was a Helena Rubinstein Curatorial Fellow at the Independent Study Program, Whitney Museum of American Art. In 2009 she was honored by Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts with a David Alfaro Siqueiros Award.
Gabriel de Guzman, Curator of Visual Arts at Wave Hill
Gabriel organizes the Sunroom Project Space series for emerging artists and thematic group exhibitions in Wave Hill’s Glyndor Gallery; he also coordinates the Winter Workspace residency program there. In 2013, he was one of the co-curators of Bronx Calling: The Second AIM Biennial, featuring 73 artists who participated in the Bronx Museum of the Arts’ Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program in 2012–13. As a guest curator, he has organized recent exhibitions for Rush Arts Gallery, Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA), Boriqua College, and the Affordable Art Fair, New York. Before joining Wave Hill’s staff in 2010, he was a curatorial assistant at The Jewish Museum, where he coordinated exhibitions on Louise Nevelson, Harry Houdini, Joan Snyder, Andy Warhol, and Schoenberg, Kandinsky, and the Blue Rider. His writings have been published in catalogues for Wave Hill, the Bronx Museum, The Jewish Museum, Rush Arts Gallery, NoMAA, and Kenise Barnes Fine Art. He earned an M.A. in art history from Hunter College, City University of New York, and a B.A. in art history from the University of Virginia.
Julian A. Jimarez Howard, Curator, Educator and Writer
Julian A. Jimarez Howard is a Brooklyn-based artist, curator, educator, and writer. He is the founder of OUTLET Fine Art (formerly known as Sunset Surf Club art space) and also co-founder/director at Associated Gallery. He graduated Cum Laude from Brown University in the Department of American Civilization and holds a Master’s in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art. His artistic focuses are on place, space, representation, and duality.
Debra Klomp Ching, Co-Owner, Klompching Gallery
Debra Klomp Ching is an experienced reviewer, having attended several notable photography review festivals such as Rhubarb-Rhubarb, FotoFest, Review Santa Fe, Atlanta Celebrates Photography, New York Times Portfolio Review Day and Photolucida. In addition to owning and operating the Klompching Gallery, Debra Klomp Ching is a freelance consultant, writer, curator and adjunct faculty at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her writing has been published in Magenta Magazine, photo-eye Booklist, (re)collect, Nahtsellen, PDN, and she has been a Guest Editor for Photography Quarterly (issue No. 99). In 2010 she curated (with Darren Ching), The Architecture of Space, an exhibition of contemporary U.S. photography for the Flash Forward Festival (Toronto). As a private consultant, she provides creative and professional advice to photographers intending to or working within a fine art context, and to collectors of contemporary photography.
Established in 2007, the Klompching Gallery specializes in the exhibition and sale of contemporary fine art photographs. It represents an international roster of artists, including the critically-acclaimed John Blakemore, Simon Roberts, Max de Esteban, Odette England and Helen Sear among others. The gallery has placed photographs into numerous private and public collections, including the George Eastman House of International Photography and Film, Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It is a member of AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) since 2012, and exhibits annually at the New York Photography Show at the Park Avenue Armory, New York. Each July/August the gallery presents FRESH, its Annual Summer Show of emerging talent, curated from an international open call.
Margaret Matthews Berenson, Curator
Margaret Mathews-Berenson is an independent curator and art educator with special expertise in contemporary art and photography. She founded her own business in 1984 following a career in museum work (Philadelphia Art Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art) and in book publishing. Since then, she has curated numerous exhibitions for museums, galleries and non-profit institutions throughout the United States and abroad. From 1997 to 1998, she was director of the Drawing Society and editor-in-chief of Drawing magazine. An accomplished lecturer and writer, her articles have been published in ARTS, American Artist, The Pastel Journal and Sculpture magazine. Through her tour company, Art Today, she provides VIP and special-access tours of the contemporary art scene in New York and other cultural cities. She is currently on the faculty of the 92nd Street Y in New York and serves as curator and manager the Deborah Remington Charitable Trust for the visual Arts.
Susan Mumford, Art Consultant
Susan Mumford is an art world expert, mentor, trainer, author, public speaker and creative entrepreneur. Her personal mission is to empower and inform individuals who run creative enterprises as well as help arts organizations find their way in an increasingly online-based commercial art world.
Having arrived in the London art world in 2001 with an internship of her own devising, Susan opened a gallery in Soho in early 2006. In 2010 while steering a career in challenging post-credit crunch times, she founded the Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD). Starting with a London group, the network now accepts members on a global basis and launched a New York chapter in May 2014. Over time, Susan came to the conclusion that the art world was in need of professional development for active industry professionals. Following the close of her space while continuing to build AWAD, in 2012 she founded Be Smart About Art. She oversees the development of a program that provides inspiration, training and support to artists, gallerists, creative entrepreneurs and arts organizations. She regularly judges awards and can be seen in London and New York opening exhibitions, guiding tours and leading talks. Susan has a M.A. in Arts Management.
Rachel Raphaela Gugelberger, Associate Curator of No Longer Empty
Rachel Raphaela Gugelberger is Associate Curator of No Longer Empty (NLE), a non-profit organization that organizes site-responsive exhibitions and programming in under-utilized spaces. Bring in the Reality, her first exhibition for NLE, is on view at the Nathan Cummings Foundation through September 17. The exhibition celebrates five years of No Longer Empty with an emphasis on works at the intersection of storytelling and activism that examine economic, social and political inequality. Rachel is co-founder of 1@111, a series of process-oriented conversations that focus on a single work, text, curatorial premise or proposition. Independent projects include: Once upon a Time, There Was the End at Center for Book Arts (New York, NY); Data Deluge at Ballroom Marfa (Marfa, TX); and Library Science at Artspace (New Haven, CT). Rachel has served as co-director of Sara Meltzer Gallery and curator at Exit Art, where she organized the final exhibitions Every Exit Is an Entrance: 30 Years of Exit Art and Collective/Performative.
Morgan Tachco, Grants and Services Director, Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC)
Morgan Lindsey Tachco is a creative administrator, actor and writer. She joined Brooklyn Arts Council in 2008 and filled several roles in the Grants and Arts in Education Departments prior to serving as Grants and Services Director. Morgan has led workshops and/or one on one sessions on project management, marketing/press, resource suggestions, and grant writing for organizations such as: Actor’s Fund Arts Center, Queens Council on the Arts, CUE Art Foundation, A.I.R. Gallery, and Bronx Council on the Arts. Morgan holds a B.A. from Goddard College in Individualized Studies, with a concentration in Performance and Arts Management, and is a 2015 New York Community Trust Leadership Fellow.
