This year NYFA will award two $5,000 grants with funding from the Canadian Women’s Club of New York.
Applications are now open for the Canadian Women Artists’ Award, a $5,000 award designed to provide financial support to two emerging or early career women identifying artists working in any discipline. The award, which the recipients can use in any manner they deem necessary to further their artistic goals, is supported by funding granted to New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) by the Canadian Women’s Club (CWC) of New York as a way to continue its philanthropic work when it disbanded.
The Canadian Women Artists’ Award is open to women identifying Canadian citizens between the ages of 21 and 35 who are living and working in New York State, including students in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. All applicants must be able to provide proof of Canadian citizenship and can apply in the following categories:
● Architecture/Environmental Structures/Design
● Choreography
● Crafts/Sculpture
● Digital/Electronic Arts
● Fiction
● Folk/Traditional Arts
● Interdisciplinary Work
● Music/Sound
● Nonfiction Literature
● Painting
● Photography
● Playwriting/Screenwriting
● Poetry
● Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts
● Video/Film

Applications Close: Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11:59 PM EDT
Applicants Notified: Late August 2020
Past award recipients include composer and musician Anna Webber (2017), filmmaker Émilie Martel (2018), and playwright and screenwriter Celeste Yim (2019).
