During our October 19 Doctor’s Hours event, we are hosting the third talk in a series of conversations with gallery owners on Building a Relationship Between Artists and Gallerists.

Jessica L. Porter is the owner and director of Porter Contemporary, a contemporary art gallery established in 2006. Porter is also the CEO and founder of ArtToGift, an online resource for affordable, unique works of art and is the founder and chief advisor of Porter Advisory, an enterprise combining Porter’s art and legal background to advise artists, individuals and art businesses on legal matters as well as general business practices.
Porter has a dual BA from the University of Delaware in Art History and Foreign Languages and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland, School of Law. She began her career as an assistant curator at the Smithsonian’s Museum of American Art and from there has worked in the global art market in marketing and sales before establishing her own businesses. She has spoken as an expert for CNBC on art collecting and investment, to the Harvard Business Women’s Association on starting an art collection, and has participated in panel discussions at art fairs and various arts institutions.
Porter has a resounding commitment to being a leader and resource to other women. She serves on the Board of Directors of ArtTable as the Vice President of Membership, is a member of the Leadership Advisory Board to the Girl Scouts of Greater New York and founded a private networking organization for professional women in 2006.
