Description
The Hill Art Foundation is looking for a fall intern to learn the day-to-day operations of a non-profit exhibition and education space located in the heart of Chelsea. The intern will assist the small HAF team with exhibition, education, registrar, and administrative tasks. This includes visitor services, social media, teen education programs, and more. We are looking for an intern that is organized, creative, and has a keen attention to detail. This internship offers the opportunity to further develop knowledge about cultural institutions throughout the metro area and build upon a professional skill set through first-hand experience working with a wide range of arts and education professionals. This is an hourly paid, in-person position with an opportunity for renewal.
Start date: mid September 2025
The intern will:
- Welcome visitors at the front desk
- Create social media posts catered to current exhibitions and the Foundation
- Update website and contribute to online presence
- Prepare research on artists and resources for current and upcoming shows
- Assist the registrar with collections research and archival organization
- Perform administrative duties as needed, including completing mailings, organizing contact information, etc.
- Ongoing projects include: press outreach, artist research, assist with special evening events
- Education Responsibilities: work with the Education Director in coordinating our three teen education programs, Teen Curators, Teen Educators, and Teen Summer Fellows. Provide writing and editorial support to teens as they work on final projects.
- Assist with planning and classroom setup/breakdown
- Assist in the preparation of class handouts and printed materials as needed
- Provide documentation of class activities for social media
- Lead writing workshops geared towards teens
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate is a graduate or undergraduate student based in NYC with a background in Art, Art History, Arts Education, Education, or Arts Administration
- Availability 1–2 days/week (Tuesday–Saturday; education programming in session on Tuesdays)
- Flexibility to work occasional events and evenings
- Excellent written, research, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working with marketing tools such as Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite
- Familiarity with PhotoShop, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat a plus
