Tip of the week

Google is your friend when looking for information about jobs, organizations, and career paths, but it doesn’t substitute for a good, one-on-one conversation with someone who is active in the field. If you want to learn more about the nuances of your industry, consider scheduling informational interviews with professionals in it. But don’t approach it as a job interview and don’t expect a job offer from it. An informational interview is simply a networking tool to gain a deeper knowledge about the best way to approach your own career. Not sure how to ask for one? Here are a few tips from UC Berkeley’s Career Center.
