NYFA Offers Inaugural Canadian Women Artists’ Award
Award supported with funding from the Canadian Women’s Club of New York.
NYFA is proud to announce a new award to individuals pursuing artistic excellence in all forms: the first-ever Canadian Women Artists’
Award. The $5,000 award is supported by funding granted to NYFA by the
Canadian Women’s Club (CWC) of New York as a way to continue its philanthropic
work when it disbanded.
The award is designed to provide financial support to
an emerging or early career artist working in any discipline,
and can be used in any manner the recipient deems necessary to further her
artistic goals.
The Canadian Women Artists’ Award is open to
female Canadian citizens between the ages of 21 and 35 who are living and
working in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, including students in
bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. All applicants must be able to provide
proof of Canadian citizenship and can apply in the following categories:
● Architecture/Environmental Structures/Design

“We are grateful to the Canadian Women’s Club
for the opportunity to extend the scope of our efforts to support and serve
artists,” said NYFA’s Executive Director Michael L. Royce. “Beyond the
financial incentive of participating, the award may also offer validation for
an artist at a critical stage of her career,” he added.
Full application details are
available here. NYFA is accepting applications through June 30, 2017 at 11:59 PM
EST, and will announce the award winner in Summer 2017.
“The generosity of hundreds of former members of the
now-defunct Canadian Women’s Club in New York enabled the creation of an annual
award that we hope will make a significant difference in the lives of young,
female Canadian artists studying and working here,” said Lorraine Bell,
Director, UofT Associates NYC and Canadian Women’s Club member. “Thanks to NYFA
for ensuring that artists continue to be recognized for their creative
contributions. We are honored to partner with them on this new, prestigious award,”
she added.
