NYFA’s Michael Royce in conversation with Kim Kane from Power on the Block
“If you’re not supporting the arts, you’re not really living in your highest capacity as a human being.”
On April 17, Kim Kane from Power 105.1 FM interviewed NYFA’s Executive Director Michael L. Royce for her show Power on the Block. Michael shared how NYFA supports artists throughout New York State, the United States and internationally. Listeners who tuned in heard about all the different NYFA programs that can be of assistance at critical stages of an artist’s career.
Michael explained that, “We [at NYFA] are there to support all artists, whether you’re performing whether you’re visual, whether you’re media, whether you’re literary, whether you’re inter-disciplinary. This is something we’re passionate about.”
He continued to emphasize that, “Over 65% of the employees at NYFA actually are working artists themselves, and so the staff is extraordinarily dedicated, very smart and always coming up with creative ideas to make sure that the organization is responding to the field and resonating with them, because as the technology changes so do the needs of the artist.”
Journalist Kim Kane came across NYFA while researching existing resources for artists in New York and was keen to speak to Michael to learn more. You can now listen to their full conversation below:
