Social | #ArtistHotline: June 21 Artist Professional Development Day
#ArtistHotline is turning two years old! Celebrate with a giveaway of The Profitable Artist, and by tweeting your arts career questions during this monthly Twitter chat.
#ArtistHotline is made possible by an online community of artists, creative professionals, and partnering organizations. Since July 2015, this Twitter chat has served as a forum for sharing professional development resources, advice, and encouragement. We’re excited to see what the next year of #ArtistHotline will bring, and we invite you to join us on Wednesday, June 21, from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST, for #ArtistHotline’s second anniversary.
Each month, we break down the components that make up the professional side of an artistic practice. Want tips on documenting your performances, or finding your audience online? Do you struggle with keeping up with open call deadlines, or do you need advice on tracking project expenses? #ArtistHotline is the perfect time to ask questions on these topics and more, like financial planning, emergency preparedness, and self-promotion.
How to Participate in The Profitable Artist Giveaway
As a way of thanking the individuals who make #ArtistHotline such a unique and meaningful forum, we’re giving away two copies of The Profitable Artist (Allworth Press, 2011), which compiles a wealth of practical information for artists of all disciplines. Each individual artist who joins #ArtistHotline on Wednesday, June 21, between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM EST, will qualify, and two tweeters will be randomly selected. So get ready to tweet us your questions or the professional development best practices you’ve honed in your own arts career. Just remember to include the hashtag #ArtistHotline in each related tweet!
The “Parenting Artists” Guest Chat
As part of the day, we’re hosting a “Parenting Artists” Guest Chat from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM EST. We’ll hear from guest tweeters Jaime Derringer, founder and executive Editor of Design Milk and a multidisciplinary artist, and writer Deanna Fei (Fellow in Fiction ‘06).

Inspired by the NYFA Source Hotline, #ArtistHotline is an initiative dedicated to creating an ongoing online conversation around the professional side of artistic practice. #ArtistHotline occurs on the third Wednesday of each month on Twitter. Our goal is to help artists discover the resources needed, online and off, to develop sustainable careers.
This initiative is supported by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation.
