Thank You! Highlights from NYFA 2016 Hall of Fame Benefit
“There were a lot of people who got my back, and NYFA, you’re one of them” – Faith Ringgold
On Tuesday, April 12, NYFA celebrated the induction of four artists into the NYFA Hall of Fame: James Casebere, Faith Ringgold, Anna Deavere Smith, and
Zhou Long at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. Over 300 guests attended and honored these artists along with a long history of artists that NYFA has supported in its 45-year-old history.
“If I had known how difficult it would be for me, as an African American woman to be an artist, would I have done it anyway? I don’t know. I might not have so I just close my eyes and think how fortunate I was that there were a lot of people who got my back and NYFA, you’re one of them.” – Faith Ringgold
Thank you to all who supported this magical night and as always, thank you to the artists out there. You are the heart of everything we do. In the words of NYFA’s Executive Director, Michael L. Royce, “Can all the artists stand up so we can applaud you?” Thank you!
If you missed the evening, there is still time to contribute to ensure that NYFA continues its 45-year-old history of providing direct support to artists through grants, professional development, fiscal sponsorship, and online resources. Support NYFA here.
