Two NYFA Events for Dumbo’s First Thursday Gallery Walk: February 4
Visualaries: A 30th Anniversary Showcase of Select Media Artists at Media Arts Gallery & Stacks Reading and Artist Talk
Depending on where you live, a visit to DUMBO might be anywhere from an easy subway ride to an epic mass transit commute. For those in the latter camp, we’re making your journey *extra* worth it with two great – and free!-events on February 4 in collaboration with Dumbo’s First Thursday Gallery Walk.
NYFA Gallery will keep its doors open through the evening for you to experience our current exhibition, Stacks: Three Decades of Writing Fellows with an Installation by Anne Muntges, curated by David C. Terry. From 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM, we’ll host readings with twelve NYFA Literary Fellows featured in Stacks then at 7:30 PM, Anne Muntges (Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Books Arts ‘14) will give a brief artist talk in her installation, Marks: a site-specific installation regarding her work and experience as a NYFA Fellow.
NYFA Literary Fellows reading during the event include Bibi Wein, Adrianne Wortzel, Ronna Wineberg, Marcella Durand, Xuya Chen, Leah Kornfeld Friedman, Teddy Jefferson, Danica Novgorodoff, Sharon Mesmer, Wanda Phipps, Naomi Guttman, Urayoan Noel.
Meanwhile, in an art gallery not far away, [around the corner at the Media Arts Gallery, in fact] NYFA will open Visualaries: A 30th Anniversary Showcase of Select Media Artists, a partner exhibition, featuring the work of ten NYFA Digital/Electronic Media artists, from 6:00 PM- 9:00 PM.
